My Approach
At the core of my practice is the circular link between thoughts, emotions/ feelings and behaviour and how the mind sometimes shapes these thoughts, feelings and behaviour in an unhelpful way - the reinforcement of these loops can be damaging and cause ongoing psychological issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, phobias, and low self-esteem. CBH along with the other related approaches uses the power of your mind for positive change and empowers you to find the solutions to the challenges you face by enabling you to be fully aware of the link between your thoughts, feelings and behaviour.
I believe that all therapy is a joint effort, the better we can work together, the more success we will achieve. As your therapist my role is to give you advice, techniques and support to enable you to achieve your goals; your role is: to be honest about anything relating to the therapy, to ask questions about anything you don’t understand, and to be motivated about achieving your goals.
I am also qualified as a teacher (primary and post-primary) and I spent many years teaching at all levels of the Northern Ireland Education system (from P1 all the way up to University level). My aim as a teacher was to help my students achieve their full potential and that is exactly what I want for all of my clients - to help you achieve lasting change and fulfil your potential.
